Stop using this product immediately and seek emergency medical care. Do not use any HeartFirst product to assess, manage, or delay response to symptoms that may be urgent — including chest pain, shortness of breath, stroke symptoms, severe dizziness, sudden weakness, or any symptom that may represent a medical emergency. Call your local emergency number or go to the nearest emergency department. This product can wait. Your safety cannot.
What HeartFirst products are — and are not
- Educational tools for organising cardiovascular risk information
- Frameworks for understanding what a standard cholesterol test does and doesn’t show
- Preparation aids for clinical conversations with your health team
- Question-preparation guides to help you get more from a limited appointment
- Message templates for communicating with your health team in writing
- Awareness resources about cardiovascular risk markers such as Lp(a) and ApoB
- Structured checklists for identifying what information may still be unknown
- Medical advice tailored to your individual situation
- A clinical cardiovascular risk assessment
- A diagnostic tool for any condition
- A clinical second opinion
- A recommendation to seek or avoid any specific test, medication, or treatment
- Guidance that should override or delay advice from a qualified health professional
- A guarantee of any health outcome or clinical finding
Your health team makes clinical decisions. We help you prepare for them.
Every clinical decision — which tests are appropriate, what results mean, whether medication is needed, which monitoring is warranted, what lifestyle changes are evidence-based for your situation — belongs with a qualified health professional who knows your full medical history.
HeartFirst products are designed to help you arrive at that conversation better prepared: with your information more clearly organised, a more specific question formed, and a clearer sense of what may still be unknown. Better prepared patients have better clinical conversations. That is the purpose of these products, entirely.
Nothing in our products should be interpreted as a recommendation to seek or avoid any specific test, change or discontinue any medication, alter any treatment, or make any clinical decision without professional guidance.
If our products suggest that something may be worth discussing with your health team — for example, whether Lp(a) has ever been measured — this is a prompt to have that conversation, not a clinical determination that the test is necessary or appropriate for you. Only your health team can make that determination.
Evidence grounding
HeartFirst products are informed by major cardiovascular prevention guidelines and published consensus literature. This evidence base is not exhaustive and does not replace individual clinical judgment.
This evidence grounding means our educational content reflects current scientific and clinical thinking. It does not mean our products constitute clinical advice or that their content is appropriate for every individual situation. Clinical guidelines are population-level frameworks. Your individual situation requires individual clinical assessment.
The evidence base for HeartFirst products is described in detail in the Evidence and Sources Note within each product.
The HeartFirst Prevent preparation session
Session facilitators are trained in the HeartFirst educational framework and familiar with the evidence base used in HeartFirst products. They are not acting as your health professionals and do not provide clinical advice during the session. Even where a facilitator has health or scientific training, the session is not provided as a clinical service.
Health-related information you record
HeartFirst products include worksheets that prompt you to record personal health-related information — cholesterol results, blood pressure readings, family history, medication lists, and similar data. This information is entered by you into documents stored on your own device. We do not receive, process, or store the health data you record in product worksheets.
If you share health-related information with us directly — for example, in a support email or during a preparation session — we treat it with strict confidentiality and use it only to assist you with the service you have purchased. It is not shared with third parties for advertising or unrelated purposes, and it is not used to diagnose, assess, treat, or make clinical decisions.
Why we are this clear about it
Many health-adjacent products reduce this distinction to a single sentence buried in a footer. We have chosen a different approach (a dedicated page, written directly, linked from every footer) for a reason.
Our products exist in a space where the stakes are real. Cardiovascular disease is the world’s leading cause of death. The people who use HeartFirst products are often dealing with genuine worry about results, family history, or risk signals that haven’t been properly addressed. That context demands honesty, not hedging.
“A prepared patient has a better clinical conversation. A better clinical conversation produces better decisions. Better decisions compound over a lifetime of cardiovascular health.”
That is the entire purpose of HeartFirst. Education, preparation, and one clear next action. Not diagnosis. Not treatment. Not a substitute for the health professionals who know you. A bridge to them — built as well as we can build it.
Reliance on product content
You use HeartFirst products at your own discretion. While we take care to ensure our educational content is accurate and grounded in current evidence, we cannot guarantee that it is free of error, that it applies to your specific situation, or that it remains current as guidelines evolve.
Shyntesy accepts no liability for any health outcome, clinical decision, or action taken or not taken in reliance on HeartFirst product content. Our full liability position is set out in our Terms & Conditions.
If in doubt, ask your health team. HeartFirst products are designed to help you ask better questions — not to answer the clinical questions that only your health team can answer. If anything you read in a HeartFirst product raises a concern, the right response is always to raise it with a qualified health professional.
